Garden of the Gods!! A Few Fun Ramblings for the Day After

Greetings all!

Tthe first part of the Triple Crown of Running is now complete. Before I get in to my ramblings, I feel I have to give a shout out to everyone who made Garden of the Gods 10 Miler possible. So, thank you to Tim Bergsten, Race Director extraordinaire, and the race staff: Ron Ilgen, Micky Simpson, Susan Gyunn, and Alicia Pino. Also a big thank you to those who did the timing, and as always, HUGE SHOUT out to the volunteers! What a great group of people. I was a…

Garden of Gods 10 mile

What a day this turned out to be! I woke up at 0430 to get ready for the first leg of the triple crown series, Garden of the Gods 10 miler. I have been running this race since 2011, but I was nervous. This year was a new course; I was also a Mighty Marmot. I didn't want to fail being a part of this team. I knew from previous years, I could finish this race within the time requirement for the Peak. I was still nervous as I could be. My husband, Gerald, was nervous too. We didn't know what to…

Garden of the Gods 10 miler TOMORROW!!!!

How many of you are running this amazing race, in one of the most beautiful parks in the United States of America?

I am, I am! This is one of my favorite running events. I only run my favorite races more than once. The challenge and beauty of the Garden of the Gods 10 miler always brings me back. I ran GOG several times through high school and 3 times after I had my two children. Below are my times, after being a mom.

2010 - 1:29.59

2013 - 1:13.56

2015 -…

Happy National Running Day!

What did you do to celebrate National Running Day?

I celebrated the day by going on a run. It was a beautiful morning and I was lucky to enjoy it on a nice, peaceful EASY 3 miles! My daughter has swim practice near Palmer Park, so I ran from her practice into Palmer Park.

My blogs will continue with the theme of "Finding Balance", and I will share my struggles, my triumphs and people that have helped me along the…

I'm a Marmot!?!

Woo! I'm excited (see photo)!

So, what does that mean? Why was I chosen to be a Marmot? What do I have to write about? What do I have to offer you all?? I have been told by many (and have even said it myself) that I have a "good story." But, it feels weird to say that because it is not a story I want to have. Except for the latest part. And maybe that is the part that…

Running for Rainbows and Unicorns

I'm nervous..... Holy (insert colorful metaphor here) I am nervous. First, I have never been a blogger. I don't really read blogs, and I'm not sure about the "blogging rules."  I'm definitely a wordy person, I love to write, and I have volumes and volumes of personal diaries dating back to when I was 10 years old, so I think that blogging may eventually make a lot of…

Balance!?!?

I am very honored to be picked for the Mighty Marmot Team! All the team members before me were incredible people and members of the running community! My teammates and I have big shoes to fill.

I have thought hard about what I might share with you all, as I train for the Triple Crown of Running Series. I have chosen to not only share exciting recounts of my mileage, but how I struggle with family, work, life balance, daily. I…

Marmots and Motherhood

Dusting off the ol' blog to announce that I am once again an active member of Purple and Gold Nation, the Mighty Marmots, the Triple Crown Runners! It's an honor to serve as your retread for the 2017 season.

Where we last left our hero (2012), I was 28 and had a boyfriend and lived in an apartment. Since…

Mighty Marmots 2017

I am officially announced as one member of the 2017 Mighty Marmot team! I spent the weekend racing and enjoying trail running on National Trails Day. You couldn't ask for a better weekend for running. Saturday, June 3, I completed North Fork 50k in Pine, Colorado. This race incorporates a lot of ascents and some descents. In the distance, you could see the snow covered Mt Evans (which I will be running in two weeks). Sunday, I completed a very easy hike for the 4 miler in High Drive…

Heroes and Tweets

"If you ever catch yourself describing someone's effort in an optional running competition as ‘heroic,’ consult a dictionary.”

This sentiment jumped out at me one day as I mindlessly perused the social media time toilet (except, isn’t all social media a time toilet?) that is Twitter. I stumbled upon this aforementioned Tweet the same night where, earlier, while eating dinner with two work colleagues, the subject of Tiger Woods’ recent DUI came up, along with the topic of…

My First Race - The Rescue Run

Are you new to running?  Let me tell you that first 5k is going to hurt!!  That pain is just a blip on the timeline and is very short lived in the grand scheme of things.  So, get past that hurtle and keep running, it gets easier and the pain is less. I say less as the pain you endure is based on your current physical ability and how hard you push yourself to get better.

The Rescue Run (5K) on January 1, 2016 was my first ever race that I signed up for.  It only took me until I was…
