Tim,
I am learning, you are the go-to guy :)
Thanks for all of those. I have done the Incline. LOVE Cheyenne Mtn park! Ute Pass Trail looks like will be the next one. Thanks for that one.
I will not be able to make the Summer Round Up...darn work commitment. Hopefully, next time.
I am probably not ready for the Barr Trail. However, that is one I should consider for training. Garden of the Gods I do a lot....well, lately.
Again, thanks so much for your fantastic help.
Kirsten
Kirsten,
Google these. Palmer Park, Garden of the Gods, Rampart Range Road, The Incline, Barr Trail, Stratton Open Space, Cheyenne Cañon, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Rampart Range Road. Ute Pass Trail/Longs Ranch Road. Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
Check out the Incline Club runs on Sunday morning. They run trails (some tough runs, but you don't have to do the whole thing). http://www.inclineclub.com/home.htm. You'll meet some awesome runners and cool people. Did you say you are entered in the Summer Roundup? If not, you should just come hang out. There will be 600-plus trail runners there. http://www.summerroundup.com/. Also, the Barr Trail Mountain Race on July 19. This is a tough race - and real mountain race - on Barr Trail. You can enter or check it out, 7 a.m. July 19. It starts near the Cog Railway Station on Ruxton Ave, in Manitou and ends at the Barr Trail Parking lot about a block away. http://barrtrailmountainrace.com/
Also, a great way to meet folks is to volunteer. I'm sure the Roundup, Barr Trail and the Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent could use some help. Click here http://www.thetcr.com/volunteer.asp and check it out.
I'll be at the Summer Roundup and Barr Trail. Just look for the dork with the cameras hanging around his neck. I'm happy to introduce you to some cool folks.
Hello Road & Trail Runners,
I am one year new to the area, new to trail running, and am looking for some good trails to get ready for my first race in September - the Creede Run at 8800ft. Any suggestion or fellow runners to work with?
Jill, I wake up, I ask "Who needs coffee?" And the answer is always me! Now the new here is that my 17-year-old daughter Laurel, has crawled out of bed at 5:30 a.m. each day this week and demanded that I take her to the gym. So we've been doing planks and lifting a few weights and riding the spin machines ... after I have a cup of coffee, that is. :)
PM, sorry I'm not THAT crazy to get up so early!
Wanted: Running Partner! Need motivation!!! lol I am a west sider and live in Ivywild. I do both road and trail but I am mainly looking to run from 4:15-5:15 on Tue/Thurs in Stratton Open Space near Cheyenne Mtn HS. I'm slower right now cause I've been slacking so, I think I'm around a 9-10 minute mile. I just want to run for fun, not training. Women preferably or a group of people would be cool too! I'll be at the UpaDowna.com Waldo hike this Sunday if anyone wants to meetup!
