Hi Pikes Peak Sports fans! Great to meet you here and I hope to see you often on the roads and trails!
I love being outside and active. I've personally competed in everything from a 5k run to an Ironman triathlon. I've dabbled in mountain bike racing and hope to race my road bike a bit more these next few years, and give the sport of cyclocross a try as well.
My passion (and my job!) is to help others do the same.

During the warmer months (April-September) I lead a Friday evening no-drop ride from Cafe Velo. I
I hope to swim, bike, and/or run with you soon!
Since 2012, my Super Bowl Sunday has involved the Super Half Marathon / Game Day 5k in some way. In 2012 and 2013, I ran the half marathon. Last year, as I was recovering from one hip surgery and soon to find out that I needed another, I volunteered at the Jack Quinn's aid station.
This year was a little more meaning behind it. First, I'm running again after the hip surgeries. Woohoo! Second, it was on Super Bowl Sunday last year that I experienced initial symptoms of optic neuritis,…

Do you ride a bike? Would you like to ride for a great cause?
I'd like you invite you (yes, you! All of you reading this here in the Pikes Peak region, or anywhere for that matter!!) to join my team (Team 303) for the 2015 edition of the Colorado Bike MS, taking place June 27-28, 2015.
Why? Because in May of 2014, I got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). And chances are you know someone who has MS, even if they haven’t told you…

I haven't posted here in a while... I kept meaning to but life got a bit crazy (once race season starts, I'm a very busy coach!)
Regarding my hip surgeries, I'm mostly recovered and am starting to walk/jog again. Hooray!
To catch up on that and maybe be a little inspired (that's the goal anyway), check out the interview I did with Scott Jones at Athlete On Fire.
And once high school cross country season…

The first weekend in May has become the weekend for the Tri-Lakes Time Trial and a Gran Fondo, both sponsored by Cafe Velo. The local master's race team, Rotor Bike/CP Racing, a local masters race team, organizes the time trial, and based on the comments from participants it's one of the best organized around (if not the best.)
For anyone not familiar with the Time Trial format, it's a bike race against the clock. Riders are released from the start at specific intervals (in…

Of course you can friend me. It's always nice to meet other tri-geeks.
BTW - I just joined this forum and you're my first!
Nicole, so you know I broke my femur and thus have very limited mobility below my hips.
What are some good exercises that I can do (for cardio primarily) that do not stress my body below the waist. Currently even sitting up hurts (so situps are out of the question), and I cannot put any weight on that leg (so push ups are out). The only thing that I can think of is to lie on my back with free weights... Not many options that I can come up with.
