Tim Bergsten created this Ning Network.

One of the top running races in the state, The Garden of the Gods 10 Mile run, will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Park in  Manitou Springs.
About 2,000 runners are expected to compete. The course is nationally known as one of the most beautiful. But it is also tough. Veteran runners refer to the 10-miler as the toughest "half-marathon"
they've ever done.
There will be great competition in the men's race as Simon Cheprot, the 2009 winner and course record holder (50:31) is back to defend the title. But he'll be challenged by Reuben Mwei (right), the reigning NCAA Division II cross country champion from Adams State College. Same day registration will be available. Arrive early!
There will be cash awards of $1,000, $500 and $250 for the top three men and women. This is going to be a great show! This will be the 34th running of the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run.

Mwei is good, but you are overlooking another past Adams State great who just won two races over the weekend in Vail last week over the best trail runners arround. Mario Macias.
Thanks! Good to know. The more competition the better. My question is: Who will emerge from the women's race? The folks I spoke with at Trip-Crown headquarters couldn't identify a clear favorite.
We'll have our PikesPeakSports.us tent at the starting line. Come by and say hello. I think I remember your name as a high school runner, but I can't recall where. Coronado or Wasson?
Wasson class of 99. I will be out on a long run on Gold Camp, so I can't make it to watch the race. Have a great time though.
Olaru, Nuta is my pick. Look at some of her results. I saw Wendy Thomas, so there is another one. The final one was Chouinard, Adrian.
It was an AWESOME run despite being injured - I was shocked as I was barely past mile 4 when the winner came running back - can't wait to do it next year and make Wave 1 of the Ascent placement - taking a line drive to the leg 2 nights before definitely has a negative impact....oh well....
