One of the top running races in the state,
The Garden of the Gods 10 Mile run, will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Park in Manitou Springs.
About 2,000 runners are expected to compete. The course is nationally known as one of the most beautiful. But it is also tough. Veteran runners refer to the 10-miler as the toughest "half-marathon"
they've ever done.
There will be great competition in the men's race as Simon Cheprot, the 2009 winner and course record holder (50:31) is back to defend the title. But he'll be challenged by Reuben Mwei (right), the reigning NCAA Division II cross country champion from Adams State College. Same day registration will be available. Arrive early!
There will be cash awards of $1,000, $500 and $250 for the top three men and women. This is going to be a great show! This will be the 34th running of the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run.
