Okay the newbie of running has a question (one I think is probably - shall we say "dumb" - but hey LOL) my kids told me they heard something about a race (not the Ascent Marathon either LOL) that is strictly ran down hill and they thought it was either a half or full marathon - does anyone know of such a race in Colorado?

Thanks!

Hey Trudy, they may be talking about the Slacker Half Marathon. It's an all downhill race. Here's the link: http://www.slackerhalfmarathon.com/
I think the Steamboat Marathon is almost all downhill.
Ok I signed up for the Slackers Half LOL I figure after I do the Garden of the Gods I deserve to be lazy w/an all down hill run LOL....
Are you running the 10 mile? What's three more miles in either direction after that? :P I'm considering the slacker half myself...my kind of race!!

Hey Teresa...hope to see you at the Slacker....While I've heard most of it is downhill I've also heard parts of it is NOT LOL...oh well we did the Garden - it's all good now!
Hi Trudy
I have not heard of a strictly down hill race. The Colorado Marathon in Ft. Collins starts with about 18 miles all down hill but after those 18 miles you still have oodles of miles on the flat :-)
Hope this helps,
Rebekka
Hi Rebekka

I did the Slacker this last weekend and the bulk is all downhill. There are small portions with gradual and very slight incline, but overall it's downhill. It was VERY beautiful as it started at the Loveland ski resort and ran to and through Georgetown...I would highly recommend it!!!!
Steamboat Marathon is a nightmare if you are looking a downhill race. You will fly the first few miles and then you have a lot of ups with those downs. Colorado Marathon is mostly downhill, but like someone mentioned, you have a lot of flat and after that much down, it hurts to flatten your foot out. The Slacker Half is a lot of down and only flattens the last half mile, but a blast. In Colorado Springs, we have the American Discovery Trail Marathon which is ran from Palmer Lake to America the Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs. It starts at 7200 and ends at 6000 feet - elevation. I'm not gonna lie, there are a few bumps along the way, but nothing big. It is mostly ran on groomed trail, so easy on the legs. AND best of all, it is the least expensive marathon in Colorado at $65. You can check it out at adtmarathon.com. I have ran all of these races mentioned, so I am completely speaking on experience...however, since I direct the ADTM, I'm a little bias. ;)
Thank you so much. I'll have to do that one next year..............
