I’m slow. Literally and figuratively. Anyone that knows me well would agree. I am a slow runner, reader, writer, eater, blonde…and certainly a slow…Continue
Ok Tim, so it’s a little late BUT the last time I wrote a blog about a marathon I DNF’d. Naturally I’m a bit reluctant to do that again but a promise is a promise so here goes nothing…
Bound and determined to write something about running that one if not both of my brothers would read I asked each of them to name their three most favorite things. One said girls, hot girls and mayonnaise and the other said good chocolate, good beer, family visiting in Nicalandia, good food and…
THE MONEY IS IN THE BANK…don’t cash any in until Saturday!
Terrific advice on the dreaded taper from my good friend Michelle. With just five days to go until the start of the Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon doubler weekend I am scared to death. I won’t lie. Today is a “rest” day…I’m not a big fan of tapering, it makes me feel lazy and I am sure if I don’t run today or if I only run a few miles that all of the training I have…Continue
I am extremely fortunate to be surrounded by so many people that I am confident under any circumstance would do just about anything for me. I am even more fortunate that so many of them share my love of early morning trail runs for nothing more than the enjoyment of getting out there, putting one foot in front of the other and sharing a bit more of their lives with each…Continue

I find myself hiding from another torrential downpour in my house just a mere 14 days (OMG) from what might be the hardest thing I have ever attempted. Ok, it WILL absolutely be the hardest challenge I have ever signed up for without a doubt! Where has the time gone? I’m a bit behind in the updates so grab some sports beans and an electrolyte enhanced sports drink that only kind of tastes good…Continue
Between work, volunteer, personal and junk I receive on average 200 emails a day. Few subjects will catch my attention and cause me to skip ahead and read before all of the rest. My good friend Sonya and trusty early morning “sweat sister” cleverly (likely without knowing) titles her emails so they are always the first things I read. In training for this Summer Roundup,…Continue
ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FIVE runners woke up to a crisp, clear morning with temps in the low to mid 50’s. Absolutely perfect by my standards. I was greeted at my house by Danielle, one of my “sweat sisters” who has spent the last EIGHT weeks cheering us on as she nurses her high ankle sprain back to life and Deb, friend and fellow runner excited and nervous as a…Continue
I enjoy sleep; I’m just not very good at it. Lucky for me, my running buds either humor the early starts or find that it is their only window to get out of the house before the daily chaos ensues, so as a result our gaggle is typically moving before the sun comes up. It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to get anywhere from one to eight ++ others to join in the fun. …Continue
I wanted to name this post DNF. I have been crafting these words in my head since Sunday at 9:24AM EST and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that true as it may be it is just too negative for this girl.Continue
It would be impossible to talk about running, training, racing, early mornings, clown shoe contests, achievements, challenges, strengths or weaknesses without first delving into the “usual suspects”. The trusty companions that make my mornings brighter, push me beyond what I ever thought possible, make a two or three hour run seem like 20 minutes and fully understand that there is no greater way to bring people together than a bit of healthy suffering. My Mom was a huge fan of Miss Manners…Continue
I am really good at registering for races. I mean REALLY good. Running is playtime with my friends. Often before the sun comes up I get to spend hours with anywhere from one to ten amazingly talented and incredibly entertaining runners. So when one of them sends me a link to a run that’s new to me or looks like fun I find it really difficult to say no. In fact, unless I already have a race that day I don’t say no. The problem with that is often the training is quite different and…Continue
