About

Tim Bergsten created this Ning Network.

I am a native Kansas Citian with extensive experience in RMNP.  We just moved to the Springs - with our three kids (7,5 and 2) - and I'm anxious to get them (and myself) up in the mountains.  Any advice on hikes in the area?  I'd be interested in knowing any "must do" hikes for myself...my wife and I...and/or, our entire family.

Thanks!

For your family, I would look at Bear Creek Park, Palmer Park and the Garden of the Gods. All have great trails that are easy to negotiate.
For you...try Waldo Canyon, Barr Trail (which goes to the summit of Pikes Peak.
The Columbine Trail that begins at the base of Cheyenne Canyon is pretty good, and the Seven Bridges Trail accessed from the closed part of Gold Camp. The parking area is about 1/2 mile past Helen Hunt Falls in Cheyenne Canyon. Check out our Trails Guide here for info on these trails and more. It's a work in progress, so if you have questions just ask. And thanks for joining PikesPeakSports.us.
Welcome to the Springs Adam. You've come to the right place for trail info. There are so many to choose from. But I'm a big fan of Red Rock Canyon. A good trail to start on is the Contemplative Trail. It could take you a while to explore all of Red Rock and then move on into Section 16. What part of the Springs do you live?
Go out to Cheyenne Mountain State Park on Hwy 115 south of town. Zook Loop is a great trail for the family, as is Coyote Run. For yourself and your wife, Blackmer and Cougar's Shadow and Talon make great runs and/or bike trails.
Thanks guys! We've been VERY busy settling into new jobs, new house, etc. and I'm jones'n to hit the trails. I'll try to take a look at each of these suggestions. I was a part of a similar site focusing on RMNP and enjoyed great discussions, advice and made some great friends. Thrilled to be here...and thanks again!
