Tera Moody wins Classic 10K in Colorado Springs

Tera Moody is getting her speed work in after surgery and four months of recovery. The 30-year-old Boulder Running Company/adidas runner won the Classic 10K on Saturday in 33 minutes, 57.61 seconds. She was a few seconds off of her time of last year, but said she is on track for the World Marathon Championships on Aug. 27 and the Olympic Marathon Trials in January, 2012.
"I was on a great pace for four or five miles, but you can't fake your way through a 10K, so I kind of died big time in the last mile and a half and 10 or 12 seconds slower than last year.
Moody won the Alex Hoag Run for Sunshine 5K last week and wanted to stretch her speed work. She said she is happy with the result, but it hurt.
"After taking four months off, I guess I can't complain too much.Today was just to get a little taste of hurt and I definitely got that."
Boulder's Colleen De Reuck, 47, placed second in 34:21:62., followed by Adrian Chouinard, 28, of Manitou Springs in 36:44:10.
