Joe Gray, 31, of Colorado Springs, rang in 2016 by setting a new course record at the Rescue Run 10K on Friday, New Year's Day.
Gray barreled over the hilly course in Palmer Park in 32 minutes, 58 seconds breaking the old mark set by Simon Gutierrez in 2005 by about nine seconds.
Justin Ricks (35, Colorado Springs) was second in 36:03, followed by Toby Lefere (40, Colorado Springs, 36:34.)
In the women's 10K, Kierann Toth (32, Colorado Springs) took the win in 40:30, followed by Ana DeVries (30, Colorado Springs, 41:19) and Kristina Mascarenas (26, Colorado Springs, 42:06.)
