Start of the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

More than 7,300 runners and walkers slipped into something pink and ran to help end breast cancer in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Sunday in the Garden of the Gods.
For the fifth straight year, Connie McKenzie, 58, was the first survivor to cross the finish line. And her son, Chuck McKenzie, won the race for the fifth consecutive time.
In the women's race, Army Capt. Kelly Calway won for the second consecutive year and was fifth overall.
The race was hosted by Susan G. Komen for the Cure Southeastern Colorado and is one of 130 Race for the Cure events in the U.S.
Funds raised are used to support breast cancer patients in El Paso, Pueblo and Teller Counties.
