Carlos Ruibal beat some fast company in the 35th Rescue Run 5K on Wednesday at Palmer Park. Ruibal, 27, of Colorado Springs, finished in 18 minutes, 1 second, Sheila Geere, (50, Colorado Springs) won the women's race and set a new age-group (50-54) course record with a time of 21:32.
Did you notice that the combined age of the top three women in the 5k was 143 years? Isn't that cool? In what other sport is that even possible? I love our sport of running. It has such longevity and if you are dedicated and work hard, you can continue to improve or do really well. Congrats to Sheila, Donna and Nancy (and all the other runners).
