For the Women- It’s an early one, starting at 7:30am, but that way it’s not too hot! Plus, after the race I’d like
to invite the Women of UpaDowna and Pikes Peak Sports to a breakfast and mimosas somewhere
downtown! Get to know each other and who knows, get crazy and plan a
girl’s (camping) night out! I hope you’ll join me for the Springs’ ONLY
Women’s only race…Zooma
can go back to Denver with their “Women’s Race Series” and the “ultimate in girls
weekend running” which just so happens to be the same day, but at the
Broadmoor. Oh, and BTW…MEN are allowed to race in Zooma. What kind of
crap is that? No offense men, but this “Women’s Race Series” boasts an
inspirational message of “Imagine a powerful sea of women on the
move-encouraging fellow runners and celebrating personal running
triumphs. Picture a post-race party and expo all wrapped up in one
memorable “after-party expo” where these strong goal-oriented women
come together for well-deserved partying and pampering.” No guy I know
would want to be a part of that. Ok, I lied, maybe a few I know. But
c’mon, every finisher gets a custom designed silver necklace? Men? I
just don’t get it. Why call it a Women’s race and allow men to do it
too? I love ya guys but not enough to let you race in my all-women’s
race. That’s why I’m sticking to my Women’s Distance Festival!
For the Men- You can be involved too! The WDF stresses that ONLY men can volunteer to help at the race plus you get a FREE shirt! And the race director will dress to impress! The last two shirt logos were:
“I Love Fast Women”
and
“I like to run, I like girls, I like girls who run”
To volunteer, head into The Colorado Running Company at 833 N. Tejon and ask for the volunteer sign-up
sheet. Women, you can also head
into CRC and register for the race there as well!
