Have you ever had a bad workout? One where you think why the hell am I still doing this? Why do I put myself through this pain willingly? What makes me think I can do all these crazy races? I have these ideas run through my head more often than I would like to admit but the key is to push those thoughts out of your mind and move on.
One way that I do this is to remember one person. This person happens to be a great friend of mine and she suffers from MS. Her bad days will always be worse than the bad days that I suffer in training. She is in remission right now but every day she wakes to the possibility that she may start suffering from MS’ effects again today. Not only that but she can’t share her condition with a lot of people because it would place her job in jeopardy so many times she suffers in silence. She is my inspiration! She handles this all with grace and dignity and never have I heard her complain so when I think I can’t make it up the hill one more time in my hill repeats, I think of her. When I think I can’t stare at that damn black line in the pool any more I think of her.
So to honor of her and the other people I know with MS, Team Shiner and I complete the MS 150 ride in Colorado every year. This ride takes place in Northern Colorado over 2 days and each day is a 75 mile ride. Team Shiner and I want to make a small difference for our friend and luckily we are able to do so by doing something we are pretty good at. So please if you can, help us make a difference by making a small donation. The generosity of you and others is what is going to help come up with a cure for MS. So let’s make a difference and put a “shiner” on the eye of MS. Thanks!
