An easy ride today after a week of being sick.

Last Tuesday I ran with the Jack Quinn's running club. The next morning, I woke up with a cold. Headache and sinus congestion. After a couple of days, I thought I was over it, I wasn't even close. The cold then proceeded to congest my lungs. When I would cough I would be coughing up little chunks of goop and I would feel a little gurgling as well.

Needless to say, my training was put on hold. For any of you that have a had a similar experience, I'm sure you understand how I felt. As the cold progressed, so did my irritation. Not only did I feel like crap because of the cold but I also felt in the back of my mind that I was losing fitness. I know it's silly to think this way but it's the way my mind works. If you're not moving forward, you're moving back.

Everyday I had high hopes for the next, thinking I would be able to get my workout in, but with no luck. Until today, that is. I woke with my head clear and my cough all but gone. I went out for a short ride through the Garden of the Gods. I felt pretty good.

I've been laying pretty low the rest of the day just to see how I feel and so far so good.

Tomorrow I plan on swimming in the morning. Again, we'll see how I feel at 5:00am.

Hang in there, Brian. The weather will improve, the light will come back. And we're going to have a great spring.
