Places I like to run: Waldo Canyon

Hit Waldo Canyon for a quick trail run Monday night. The fall colors were beautiful as the sun set behind Pikes Peak.
I think my first trip to Waldo was in 1987 or 1988. Other than some erosion on the switchbacks, it really hasn't changed much.
There are a couple of sections of this trail that really feel secluded. The running here is great, though there is some technical and rocky trail sections.
Years ago, my friends and I would do Waldo on our mountain bikes, just blast it as fast as we could. Nowadays, I appreciate a nice run - with some power hiking thrown in on the steep stuff - a lot more.
Started at about 4:40 p.m. and saw some hikers in the first quarter of a mile. After that, I basically had the place to myself.
Needless to say, a good time was had by all. That would be just me ... and the woodland critters.

sounds great!  Longest I've gone so far is up the incline, and then the long way back down, so around 4.5M... of course the greater part of it downhill!

You would love it, Jeff. GREAT views of Pikes Peak. Nice little back-country loop. I think the loop is 6.8 to 7 miles.

I have yet to hike/run there, but I hear it is really great...  definitely need to get up there!
