Colorado Springs Police say a road rage incident between a driver and a bicyclist Monday escalated into a brief standoff and ended with a man being arrested.

Curtis Scrivner, 46, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Monday after an argument with a bicyclist near the intersection of Old Farm Drive and Old Farm Circle West.

Wow, interesting that the driver of the car was arrested. Usually the cyclist is automatically blamed for any incident like this. I'd hate to be the next cyclist on the road when that guy is driving around.

It would be very interesting to find out the details of what occurred to cause this incident. It highlights the fact that we, as roadway users need to be vigilant, thoughtful and if a situation arises that has the potential to turn as ugly as this one did, de-escalate to the greatest extent and walk/ride/drive away. Get the license plate of the car if possible but always remember that you can be dead right...exactly.
Sign of our times: The cyclist used his cell phone to photograph the driver's license plate. This helped police find the driver, who according to the cyclist, may have brandished a weapon during the confrontation.
