Female Cyclists, Rejoice! Registration Open for Venus de Miles, Colorado’s Only All-Women’s Road Ride

The wildly popular event draws women who are passionate about cycling, sisterhood and supporting Greenhouse Scholars, a Boulder based non-profit organization that provides mentorship and scholarship support to high-performing, under-resourced students.

Event organizers for the 5th annual Venus de Miles are expecting close to 2,000 participants. Riders can choose from one of four fully supported courses, including the rolling 100-mile century ride, the calf-cramping 67-mile ride, the heart-pounding 51-mile ride, or the 33-mile jaunt through the scenic countryside.

An upbeat festival full of all things fun and fabulous follow the ride, including complimentary spa services, bike demos by Trek Women, a gourmet catered lunch, cocktails, live music, and more.

To date, Venus de Miles has raised over $381,000 for Greenhouse Scholars. And, to keep the momentum going this year, organizers are requiring each participant to fundraise $75 for the cause (in addition to the cost of registration). With 74 Scholars in the Greenhouse Scholar program, the fundraising requirement ensures each rider can contribute a minimum of $1 per Scholar.

Venus de Miles hopes to raise $225,000 for Greenhouse Scholars through the 2012 ride.  “We’re thrilled to deepen our commitment to the Greenhouse Scholars program by enhancing our fundraising initiatives this year. By doing so, we’re able to put four more Greenhouse Scholars through our program. That’s four more lives we’ve touched,” says Teresa Robbins.
