Start of the Palmer Lake Elementary School July 4 Fun Run

About 625 runners hit the Santa Fe Trail on Monday morning in the 30th Annual Palmer Lake Elementary July 4 Fun Run.
Dan Roberts, 24, of Colorado Springs, took the win, covering the 4-mile course in an overall record time of 19 minutes, 59.3 seconds.
Army Captain Kelly Calway, 27, of Manitou Springs, won the women's race in 23:24.9.
But the event was really all about celebrating Independence Day and supporting Palmer Lake Elementary School.
The husband-wife duo of Ken and Christie Foster of Colorado Springs each placed second. Ken (25) crossed the line in 20:29.5. Christie (23) clocked 23:56.5.
