About 150 runners blew through the first half mile of the 2014 Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race 50K on Saturday at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Jared Hazen, 18, of Colorado Springs, took the win, covering the undulating singletrack course in 4 hours, 7 minutes, 54 seconds. John Fitzgerald (26, Lakewood) was second in 4:23:44, followed by Seth Kelly (29, Boulder) in 4:27:30.
Hillary Allen, 25, of Golden, romped through the course in 4:27:53, crushing the old old course record of 4:55 set by Amanda Ewing in 2013. Ewing (33, Colorado Springs) was second on the day with a time of 5:17:14.
