When he had finished, he was about the proud owner of 1/4-ounce of pure gold and a new course record of 54 minutes, 40 seconds. Adam Rich, 32, of Colorado Springs, last year's race winner, placed second in 57:14.47, while Brent Bailey (27, Colorado Springs, 1:02:26) placed third.
In the women's race, Chris Miner, 35, of Monument took the win in 1:16:34. Nicole Renaud (31, Colorado Springs) was second in 1:27:40, followed by Kerry Page (45, Monument, 1:29:49.)
