Runners know that if they want to post a fast 10K time, the Grand Prix of Running's Classic 10K and Circle of Hope Run is the place to do it. The slightly downhill course follows the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail through the center of Colorado Springs. On Saturday, in the race's 15th running, there was plenty of speed to go around as Sean Quigley, 27, of Boulder, took the overall win with a time of 30 minutes, 1 second. Sean Brown (24,Colorado Springs) was second in 30:13, followed by Matthew Tebo (23, Boulder, 30:19).
In the women's race, Laura Thweatt, 23, of Boulder, set a new race record, clocking 33:28. The old mark was held by Fiona Docherty of Boulder (33:33, 2010). Ellie Keyser, 23, of Fort Collins, ran second in 33:47, followed by Brianne Nelson (31, Fort Collins) 34:03.
