Ultra runner Anton Krupicka made his return to Colorado Springs on Saturday to run in the Ponderous Posterior 50K, which rolled along the foothills trails at the base of Pikes Peak. Krupicka helped design the course. "I really wanted to put together a course that showcased all the trails, other than Barr Trail, which everyone knows because of the Ascent and Marathon, because I think the Springs has a ton of variety to offer." Krupicka, who lives in Boulder, will race in the Rocky Raccoon 100 in Huntsville, Texas, on Feb. 5, then will race the prestigious Western States 100 in June (he was second there last year). But the big goal is the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, a 100-miler in France. "It's kind of like the world premier 100-mile race," he said.
