About

Tim Bergsten created this Ning Network.

This week's update is quick and to the point. I gained a pound. Last week as well as half way through this week was quite stressful with my real job and with photography gigs afterwards. Results, stress eating. OUCH, STRESS EATING IS PROBABLY ONE OF MY BIGGEST DOWNFALLS AND IT THOROUGHLY STRESS IS ME OUT REGARDING MY WEIGHT WHEN I REALIZE I ONCE AGAIN CLEANED OUT THE REFRIGERATOR!!!

I need to figure out how to control the feeding frenzy so that I can realistically start my next weight loss indicator I call the Button to Button Hole Test. I have a brand new pair of size 34 blue jeans and once a week, I am going to see how much of an expanse exists between theses two points with the blue jeans on.

I'm a stress eater myself. Chocolate, anyone? I've found that sipping hot drinks (coffee, tea) help calm the appetite and make me realize when I'm not really hungry. Looking forward to the reports on hour button to button hole test! Keep it up and thanks for all the inspiration!

Hey, Ralph! Long time no see. You're doing great and will be able to fit into those size 34 jeans in no time. I know how fast you can make it up the Peak and the dedication it took to train for it so I know you can do this, too. I learned a long time ago that if it's in the house, I'll eat it so I don't keep it in the house. It's hard sometimes but it's a good way to set yourself up for success. You can do it!

Ralph, I love the Button to Button Hole test! My indicator for most things is whether or not I can get the jeans/pants/skirt past my thighs to my hips!! I may have to include yours as well, since I have several pairs of very expensive and fabulous jeans that can conquer the thigh/hip issue, but cannot yet get the button to meet the hole! Good idea! You're brilliant, Ralph!

Re: the feeding frenzy. A) it happens. Just plan to have lots of healthy choices (as Brian mentioned) to feed upon when the stress hits. I have a list of things that cannot live in my house at all, ever, for that very reason. I'm a big fan of cold grapes or cold mini carrots. And sometimes, just sometimes...you gotta just let the body have what the mind thinks the body wants. And then get up tomorrow and go back to the healthy normal. :) You're doing fabulous and we are all proud of you!! You are certainly inspiring me!!

Stress/Emotional eating is a struggle, but totally winnable. When you feel the urge, remind yourself to gratify the goal, not the moment.

Hang in there Ralph. I have often struggled with stress. I wish I had some magic words for you. But I will say this, you can do it. I know you well enough to know...you can do it. By the way, a couple of people have told me that they really admire your honesty and that you have inspired them. Sometimes it doesn't seem like we're doing anyone any good, when in fact the wheels are in motion and great things are coming our way. Thanks for your contributions to this site.

Hey Ralph, stress can also make you retain water so you may not be up as much as you think. Maybe try planning some healthy snacks. I always like to eat a banana on my drive home from work or I make a protein shake right as I'm heading out the door. This way, when I get home, I don't immediately sit down and chow. You can also have an energy bar close by. You're doing great. Keep it up! I bet next week will be a good one.
