I just read Jon's (PikesPeakSports.us Triple Crown Team member) most recent post. This last part really stuck out: "Anyhow, looking forward to the Garden. I just ended a 30 day period which saw me cover two marathons, two 14ers, a 50K, and two 50 milers, so it will be nice to have a short distance weekend. I think I have a decent shot at a sub 70.".......... I think I can officially say I am incredibly intimidated by the other runners I'm going to encounter tomorrow. I just ended a 30 day period of "training" (the quotations are there so as not to offend those of you out there who did real training) that involved a good amount of hiking, short and flat runs, and one bike ride. Two days ago I told my mom that I was pretty certain that the Garden was going to be rough for me, considering I haven't being feeling well on my runs lately (and just haven't been going on as many as I wanted to), and she said "Oh, don't worry about it honey, just jog and walk some if you need to - that's what I'm going to be doing on mine!" (She ran the Boise half-Ironman today). That made me feel a lot better, thinking that even really really good runners can take it easy on a race! Well, she came in 3rd in her age group and qualified for Worlds today, so I suspect she may have just been trying to make me feel better.
Regardless, the race is tomorrow, and I'm doing it for better or worse! I am actually really excited, though also a little terrified. I've accepted that I will probably not rival my mother's performance tomorrow, but I'm going to go on an absolutely beautiful run (my first time on the course... woops!) and then reward myself with a day at the pool. My biggest issue might be the whole 7am race start thing, I'm definitely going to be taking advantage of Tim's coffee at the PPS.us tent in the morning. And I finally get to meet the rest of my teammates, whom I've heard such wonderful things about! Look for us in the yellow tanks - I'll be the one crawling over the finish line.

Great job at the Garden! I sure miss my college days when 7AM was considered early.
Pheobe, my dear, you are a most awesome person, and I don't think your mother , or most anyone for that matter(your mom has been my friend since we were17, by the way), could even begin to go on the ultra-marathon route you are taking in your schooling right now. Use the fitness as a to get away from that school pressure and keep you healthy for the other parts of your life, and don't compare yourself to anyone but yourself!
Think how bad you would have felt if you did not make the 7am start! I saw you there, bright and early, good job! I hope your pool day was fun!
