Sunday is the 2014 Summer Roundup Trail Run and it's a new race for everyone running, as the course has completely changed due to last year's floods. I hear the race was once known as the Mystery Course Run, so it appears the race has returned to its roots...and the old is once again new.
I have looked at the new course, which I've attached for curious readers, and it's definitely a 'diverse' route, with many twists and turns, and of course, hills. It will be an enjoyable morning in Bear Creek Park, and each approaching hill will be a mystery and a new adventure.
As someone who doesn't necessarily like surprises, I am doing my best to take this race in stride (no pun intended) and not worry about my time. As the race approaches, however, my anxiety has built, probably because I'm tapering again, and you know how I hate tapering.
But although I don't like surprises, I do enjoy a challenge. So all I've got to say to this race is...bring it.
It's not too late to join us for this Mystery Run and it may be your only chance to experience this 'once-in-a-lifetime' course, so get your bib and take on the challenge. But wear your lucky shoes. I will be.
