I DID IT!

The Pikes Peak Ascent was everything I imagined it would be, it was challenging, rewarding and most of all fun! A few years ago I never imagine that this East Coast surfer girl would move to Colorado for her dream career in TV News, let alone train and compete in one of the toughest half marathons.

This is real, the Pikes Peak Ascent is almost here

In just few days, all of my training will be put to the test. I could sit here and reflect on all of my training, but that won’t change a thing. A lot of people ask me if I feel ready, and I say ask me on Saturday after I am done the race.

I have to say, I almost wish the race were now; I am way to excited and just want to run it and finish it! Since…

Last weekend is one I will never forget

This past weekend is one I will always remember

On Saturday I had the honor to be asked to be a guide up the incline for a young woman who is visually impaired. I have done the incline a few times, and was happy to do it.

I have to say while we were hiking up the incline it was one of the most inspiring and motivational things I have experienced in a long time. The young lady pushed through like a pro and the support and kind words we received from others was astounding. I have…

Changing things up

So as I mentioned in my last blog post I went home for a few days, got some much needed rest and relaxation, and visited with friends and family.

While I was home I did not run on the beach as I previously had mentioned. But I did get to go surfing, which is one of my favorite things to do, and one of things I really miss about home during the summertime.…

One race down, two more to go

I can’t believe my first race, as Mighty Marmot is complete. The Garden of the Gods 10-Mile Run was hard, hot, and beautiful all at the same time. The hills and pavement left me sore for a few days, but I wore my somewhat limp as a badge of honor because it gave me a reason to mention why I had a limp. Which of course was because I completed the Garden of the Gods run under my estimated time of 1:45. I ran a 1:38!

Bring on the Garden of the Gods 10 mile race

So the Garden of the Gods 10 mile race is a few days away. When it comes to race day, I always like to think I am prepared, I have been running, doing some cross training and even ran parts of the Garden of the Gods course a few times, but I never truly know if I am prepared until after running a race.

It might not make sense, but once I am…

Learning the art of running from others

This week we had our first Mighty Marmot Monday night team run.  A few of the current team members and some from the past joined to run a few miles before volunteering for the Achilles International of the Pikes Peak Region.

Achilles is an all inclusive fitness group working together to help promote a healthy active lifestyle for any age and ability. They meet every Monday night at 6:15 pm out front of the Colorado…

As some say “Teamwork makes the dream work”

I’ve have always been an athlete ever since I can remember. Which also means I have been on countless teams. Being on a team means everything to me. It’s not only a family, but it’s also a group of people working together to obtain a common goal.  Some of my closest friends are people I met on some of the sports teams I played on.

Growing up I was on the cross-country, basketball, and surf team. But once I tore my ACL playing basketball during my senior year of high school,…
