Rochelle Persson, 46, from Colorado Springs, placed 7th Masters and 2nd in her age group in last weekend's Göteborgsvarvet, the world's biggest 1/2 Marathon, with more than 64.000 participants, with a personal best time of 1:29:23.
The race was run for the 35th year and is considered one of the world's biggest sporting events.
Gothenburg, Sweden's 2nd biggest city is at sea level and the race is known for somewhat blustery conditions, but on this particular day, the weather gods were smiling, with temperatures in the mid-60s, a clear blue sky and a light breeze.
The men's race was won by Ghirmay Ghebreslassie, Eritrea, with the time 1:00:36, ahead of Richard Mengich, Kenya, 1:00:55 and Abraham Kiplimo, Uganda, 1:01:55.
The winner in the women's race was Worknesh Degefa, Ethiopia, 1:10:12. Tadelech Bekele Alemu, also Ethiopia, was 2nd with 1:10:24 and 3rd place went to Hilda Kibet, Netherlands, with 1:11:19.
A 27 year old man died of cardiac arrest after collapsing at the finish line.
