About

Tim Bergsten created this Ning Network.

Ran up the east side of Sect 16/Palmer Red Rock Loop. At the saddle (high point) I found this sign, "Trail Closed Due to Storm Damage." But as you can see, someone had turned the sign upside down and placed it so that it was difficult to see from the trail.
Not sure what to make of this. All the other Section 16 Trails seem to be open.
Had I continued on and made the popular loop on the Palmer Trail, I would have eventually arrived at High Drive, which sustained some serious erosion damage during the big rains.
I guessed that the sign was meant to keep users from venturing down to High Drive, and somebody had tampered with it.
I turned back and ran down the steep switchbacks, the same way that I came up.
After my run, I drove over to the Lower Gold Camp/High Drive intersection next to the Caretaker's house. There was a barricade with a sign that said "Park Closed."
Make of that what you will. If anyone knows more about the Sect. 16/Palmer loop, I would be anxious to know. I'll try to touch base with TOSC, or perhaps Friends of Cheyenne Canon tomorrow.
