Allison McLaughlin, 17, placed third overall in the 5k race in the 2008 edition of Take 5 in the Garden at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

I shouldn't have been. McLaughlin, who graduated from Air Academy High School, is one of the top young runners in the country.
Now a freshman at the University of Colorado, she placed fifth in the NCAA Cross Country championships in November.
