Huge day at Cheyenne Mountain State Park where about 320 runners competed in the XTERRA Marathon of Trail Races. Runners competed at the 5K, half marathon and marathon distances.
Andrew Catalano, soldier at Fort Carson, beat the competition and his own cramping legs to win in 3:33:49. Boulder resident Caroline Walden took the women's marathon title in 4:12:10.
Colorado Springs' Doug Ryden won the half marathon with a time of 1:27:21, while Nicole Mahobian (1:43:17) of Highlands Ranch won for the second consecutive year.
In the 5K Ryan Vanhalle of Denver won the men's race in 21:38. (We'll get the women's 5K winner up ASAP.)
