Winter Series II, Gallery 1

Big day in the Pikes Peak Road Runners' Winter Series. James Burns, 23, of Colorado Springs, won the short-course race, covering four miles on the Pikes Peak Greeway Trail in 20 minutes, 33 seconds. Burns set a new age-group (20-24) course record, eclipsing the old mark of 20:48 set last year by John Mickowski.
In the women's race, 13-year-old Katie Rainsberger kept her Winter Series streak alive. Rainsberger, the daughter of Lisa Rainsberger, the last U.S. woman to win the Boston Marathon, pulled away from Colorado Women's Masters Champion Rochelle Persson with about half a mile to go to win in 25:04. Persson finished in 25:23.
Rainsberger won the first series race two weeks ago at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
In the long-course, 8-mile run, Ryan Hafer, 25, of Colorado Springs, blasted the field for the second-consecutive time, winning in 45:42.
Tommy Manning, 35, of Colorado Springs, was second in 46:14, breaking the age-group record by nearly four minutes.
In the women's race Stephanie Meredith, 29, of Colorado Springs, won in 53:32. Meredith, who runs for Runners' Roost, is the defending long-course champion and in good position to repeat.
