They weren't the fastest runners on Saturday in the Pikes Peak Road Runners' annual Turkey Trot Predict, but they did win the guessing game.
Dave Ruetschilling, Jalynn Tabares, Tom Seeman, Steven Rocks and Ellie Schueler all predicted their finishing times in a 5K around the snowy trails encircling Prospect Lake to within 4.3 seconds. Their keen calculations guaranteed each a happy Thanksgiving as they were awarded frozen turkeys.
Ruetschilling guessed the best. Before the race, he said he'd finish in 23 minutes, 30 seconds. He complete the distance in 23:32.097.
Patricia Lambott, whose finishing time guess was the worst of all - she missed by 10 minutes - didn't go home empty handed. But she didn't get a 12-pound turkey. Lambott won a tiny Cornish Game Hen.
