Triple Crown of Running Awards Celebration

Triple Crown of Running Awards Celebration

One thing about the Triple Crown of Running ... it's all about the people.
Race director Ron Ilgen and staff added a nice twist to the Triple Crown Awards Ceremony on Thursday at the Clarion Hotel, inviting longtime runners Al Grimme and Margie Loyd Allison, to help celebrate.
Grimme and Allison won the men's and women's series title in 182, the Triple Crown's first year.
Both competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials, as well as numerous local races.
Read more about Grimme, one of the Pikes Peak Road Runners' go-to volunteers, here http://www.pikespeaksports.us/group/roadtrailrunning/forum/topics/pikes-peak-road-runners-honor.
"It's great to have Margie and Al with us," Ilgen said. "They're a big part of our history."
The Triple Crown series includes the Garden of the God's 10-Mile Run, the Summer Roundup Trail Run (12K), and either the Pikes Peak Ascent, or the ascent portion of the Pikes Peak Marathon.
All of the top age-group, masters and overall winners received an engraved glass trophy.
Tommy Manning of Colorado Springs, and Lisa Goldsmith of Nederland, won the overall titles.
Manning clocked 57:44 in the Garden, 45:48 in the Roundup and 2:15:43 in the Pikes Peak Ascent for a total of 3:59:15.
Goldsmith finished with times of 1:17:05 in the Garden, 54:55 in the Roundup and 2:50:55 in the Ascent for a total of 5:02:55.
