If you like to race and get a head start, then the Tortoise and Hare 5K is the event you've been looking for.
Runners are given a time handicap based on their gender, age, height and weight, than dash off the line before the official race clock starts.
It makes for a fun race as runners with the larger handicap times start first and are chased by those with a smaller handicap.
On Saturday, the formula worked great for Jayne Sims, 53, and Simon Gutierrez, 48.
Sims was given a handicap of 8 minutes, 36 seconds and finished first overall with a real time of 21:18. Gutierrez, one of the area's fastest runners who last week was inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame, had a 2:26 handicap. His actual finish time was a blazing 16:29.
The event is hosted each year by the Pikes Peak Road Runners.
