Colorado's winter chill had a bite for Super Half Marathon and Game Day 5K runners on Sunday, but the course dished up some hot times.
Three overall records fell on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail as 5K runners Kenny Foster (16:26) and Alexis Wilbert (18:50), and half-marathoner Sarah Young (1:27:09) set new standards. In the men's half marathon, Pete Maksimow clocked 1:15:40 to win for the second consecutive time. He missed the race record by only 32 seconds.
Held each year on Super Bowl Sunday, the Super Half Marathon and Game Day 5K has become a popular event among area runners. Some 1,081 runners crossed the finish line just south of the Bijou Street bridge, with about 1,150 registered.
