The Pikes Peak Road Runners put the final touches on the 32nd running of the Winter Series Saturday at the Winter Series Awards Dinner. Co-race directors John Gardner and Michael Shafai presented trophies to age-group placers and overall winners, and kept the jokes coming. Shafai also reported that the average number of runners per race has increased by 91 percent in the last five years. In 2006, about 341 runners entered each of the four races. This year, that number jumped to 653.
Volunteers Tim Dolan and Maria Leyba won the Jim Linn Extra Mile Award. They provided beverages at each race.
