Gerald Romero, 40, of Colorado Springs, captured the top spot in the men's race, while Casey Jindra, 25, of Peyton, wa sthe fastest woman in the Paint Mines 6K on Saturday near Calhan.
Romero, a longtime Colorado Springs-area runner, covered the rolling course in 21 minutes, 45 seconds and averaged 5:51 per mile. Jindra, who only races a couple of times a year, finished in 29:17 (7:52 pace).
There were 67 finishers in a race that helped benefit the Calhan Boy Scout Troop.
