Pete Maksimow returned to the top of the winner's podium on Sunday (March 30, 2014) at the inaugural Journey 5-Mile Challenge in Bear Creek Park. Maksimow covered the hilly singletrack course in 29 minutes, 49 seconds. Maksimow, also was the fastest over a point-to-point uphill section. Seth Kelley (31:49.45) and Gerald Romero (32:34.30) finished second and third respectively. Romero was the quickest in the downhill section.
Jessica Harper won the women's race in 38:34.94. She was the quickest over the uphill portion.
Laura Nichols (42:22.94) was second, with Leslie St. Louis finishing third in 42:51.69.
