Boulder Running Company/adidas runner Shannon Payne won the women's race in the inaugural Hams and Hamstrings 5K Sunday in Colorado Springs. Payne, 26, of Franktown, covered a tough course in 18:57.7.
Colorado Running Company runner Connilee Walter (20:14.2) was second among the women. CM Butler was third in 20:25.5.
In the men's race, 22-year-old Julian Wheating of Denver was the fastest of all, winning with a time 17:52. Cody Hill, 39, of Colorado Springs, clocked 18:12.4 to place second. Ronnie Archuleta of Colorado Springs finished third (18:51.4).
