The runners in the Colorado Springs Oktoberfest 8K were in a festive - and competitive - mood on Saturday. Colorado Springs runners Adam Rich, 34, and Kierann Toth, 31, won the men's and women's races respectively. Rich clocked 25 minutes, 48.7 seconds on a course that gained about 300 feet over the first 2.5 miles. It was his second-consecutive win at the Oktoberfest race. Toth finished in 30:58.8.
Both runners had to sprint for the win.
Emilio Trujillo, 23, of Colorado Springs, pushed Rich throughout, and finished just 24 seconds off the winning pace.
Ashley Luna, 31, of Littleton, chased Toth to the finish and clocked 31:09.5.
