Look out state cross country, here comes Colorado Springs.
Area teams showed their speed Thursday at the Class 4A and 5A Regional meets at Monument Valley Park.
In Class 4A Boys, Cheyenne Mountain and Lewis-Palmer won regional titles, while Coronado, Mesa Ridge, Air Academy, Palmer Ridge and Discovery Canyon also qualified.
In the Class 4A girls races, Vista Ridge and Air Academy claimed regional championships. Cheyenne Mountain, Coronado, Palmer Ridge and Discovery Canyon Campus qualified for state.
In Class 5A boys, Palmer is the regional champions. Liberty won the girls 5A title and will be joined at state by Palmer and Pine Creek.
The big performance of the day belonged to Palmer Ridge's Spencer Wenck who set a new course record of 15 minutes, 23 seconds.
