Area runners owned the Cheyenne Mountain 25K Trail Race on Saturday at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, but the out-of-towners were better in the 50K event.
Peter Maksimow (Enov8/Colorado Running Company) and Tommy Manning (Colorado Running Company) crossed the finish line in a tie, but the official results had Maksimow winning by .01 seconds. Sean O'Day placed third in 1:59:08. Amanda Ewing (Colorado Running Company) won the women's race with Melissa Eichers-Bay (Boulder Running Company) finishing second.
In the 50K, Boulder runners swept the top three spots in the men's race. Michael Dominquez won with a time of 4:09:02. Jason Schlarb was second in 4:11:33 and Levi Severson placed third in 4:12:18. The top Colorado Springs-area finisher was Brandon Stapanowich, who finished fifth in 4:31:18. In the women's race, Maria Petzold of Eldorado Springs took the win in 4:59:04, with Hannah Green of Colorado Springs following in 4:59:47. Leila Degrave was third in 5:10:11.
