Sending out a Pikes Peak-sized fist bump to our 2019 Triple Crown of Running Series champions Chris Rego and Abigail Topper.
About 100 runners and their family members attended the series awards ceremony on Thursday at Memorial Hall in Manitou Springs, for the annual series awards presentation.
The series consists of the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run, the Summer Roundup Half Marathon, and either the Pikes Peak Ascent, or the ascent portion of the Pikes Peak Marathon.
Rego, 30, of Colorado Springs, completed all three in 5 hours, 17 minutes and 28 seconds.
His individual race times: Garden 10, 59:50; Summer Roundup half, 1:36:37; Pikes Peak, 2:41:01.
Topper completed the Garden of the Gods course in 1:13:39, the Summer Roundup in 1:52:48, and surged to the summit of Pikes Peak in 3:13:06, for a combined time of 6:19:33.
And a shout out to masters champions Gerald Romero, 47, of Colorado Springs, who placed second overall in the series, and Danielle Hebenstreit, 44, of Monument.
