2012 Fall Series Awards

The Pikes Peak Road Runners celebrated the conclusion of the 2012 Fall Series the way only runners can - with great Mexican food and plenty of desert on Saturday at the downtown YMCA.
The overall and age group winners received their awards.
The event also served as a business meeting as new club officers were elected. And club president Mike Shafai provided some key numbers from the past year of racing.
This is how they broke down.
The Road Runners put on 39 races in 2013, recording 16,600 finishers. Some 7,800 timing chips were assigned. Runners used about 66,400 safety pins and 28,242 Gatorade cups.
The group hosted 125 training and social runs, 12 trail clean-up days. They stuffed their award winning Long Run newsletter with 91,896 flyers and mailed 13,128 copies of the newsletter.
There were 192 members who volunteered to help with various races. Those volunteers worked 10,772 hours.
In 2013, the Road Runnners started a capital reserve fund, launched the Super Half Marathon and Game Day 5K with PikesPeakSports.us, and purchased a new chip timing system. They helped raise $19,345 for the Trails and Open Space Coalition, plus thousands more for other nonprofit organizations.
They gave away six turkeys and one Cornish game hen.
All in all, not a bad year.
