More than 50,000 people participated in the Bolder Boulder 10K road race Monday in Boulder.
Colorado Springs-area runners performed well.
Coronado High School graduate Ryan Hafer placed third in the citizens' race 31 minutes, 16 seconds. Liberty grad Joel Hamilton, running for Runner's Roost, was sixth in 31:31. Robby Young (Boulder Running Company/adidas) was 12th.
In the women's citizen race, Boulder Running Company's Wendy Thomas, who played on a state championship volleyball team at St. Mary's High School in 1997 (she was Wendy Moyle then) was fourth (36:07). Her finish is impressive considering she has been training seriously for only a year.
Manitou Springs' Alisha Williams (Boulder Running Company/adidas) placed 19th among the elite women, clocking a 34:36.
There was plenty of fun on the course, with runners dressed in costume. Boulder-area bands kept the beat all along the course.
