Palmer Trail - Section 16

DESCRIPTION: A great word to describe this ride is STEEP. Steep climbing and steep downhill. From the Section 16 parking area ride up High Drive past the caretakers cabin, through the gate and up a very steep section of road. After climbing a short while the Palmer Trail will be on your right. You continue to climb up the Palmer Trail through some fun sections and over to the top of the Section 16 trail. Descend the steep section of the Section 16 trail through some very technical rocky sections and back to your car. You can also link this ride into Red Rock Canyon Open Space via the Paul Inteman Trail.

DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 24 West, turn South on 21st Street. Continue on 21st up the hill and make a right on to Lower Gold Camp Rd. Stay on Lower Gold Camp. The Section 16 paking are and trail head will be on your right.

In 2008, this loop was nicknamed "Finger Trail" as this is where I broke two fingers in a massive wipe-out on the steep downhill portion of Section 16. Lucky for me, I was completely uninjured except for the two fingers that will never be the same... I still cannot and do not go full speed on the downhill portion of Section 16...
