Colorado Springs triathlete Andy Potts wins Ochsner Ironman 70.3 in New Orleans

Andy Potts, 34, of Colorado Springs, Colo., won the Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans on Sunday in a time of 3 hours, 43 minutes and 44 seconds, a new course record. In second place was Terenzo Bozzone of Auckland, New Zealand (3:47:17), and in third was Paul Amey with a time of 3:49:52.
World champion Chris McCormack dropped out early in the bike portion of the race because of mechanical problems with his bike.

New Zealand triathlete Samantha Warriner won the women's field in 4 hours, 16 minutes, 44 seconds. She set a women's course record.

The race entailed a 1.2- mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run. Athletes raced from the lakefront toward the eastern end of Orleans Parish, then back to lakefront and south to the French Quarter.
