If you are someone who  goes on runs and randomly runs against someone else you see on the trail - because you need to push yourself, please keep this in mind:

  1. Unless you are invited to run with someone, do not run on someone's heels. They are doing their own run - with their own goals and pacing. Ask them if they mind you running with them, and if they do mind, run ahead or stay behind.
  2. If you are a competitive person find a running partner to push you - dont use your competitiveness and ego to race a random stranger.
  3. If you don't have a goal for your run, find a coach and then run your own run. We all have limited 'personal' time, so respect solo runners choosing to run solo.
  4. If you can't motivate your self to maintain your 'ideal' effort, work on your own motivation and fitness. Don't use someone else as a rabbit to chase down to push yourself.
  5. If you do use someone else as a rabbit - if you catch them - you pass them immediately. No sucking their wind.
  6. If you have an issue being 'chicked' and passed by a female, don't let your ego control your run. get over it and train harder. This holds true with a female being 'duded' or passed by a male and trying to run with them as well. Sometime we dont even realize we are competing with someone - being aware is helpful.
