There won’t be a double grand tour attempt for Cadel Evans this year, but he could be headed to Colorado next month.

The recently crowned Tour de France champion confirmed Monday that he would not making a run at the Vuelta a España next month, ending speculation that he would try to win two grand tours in the same season.
Although Evans’ racing schedule is not yet finalized, there is a possibility he could race Colorado’s inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge in August.
BMC is among the teams scheduled to participate in the Colorado stage race, set for August 22-28.
BMC officials told VeloNews on Monday that “nothing has been decided yet” on the remainder of Evans’ 2011 racing schedule.
Evans originally planned to race the Vuelta this year and was saying that if he went, he would go to try to win.
